Quake Youth Retreat!

Quake Youth Retreat!

We have an exciting retreat opportunity to announce to all our of students in 6th-12th grade this February! This year, Quake, a national series of youth retreats, is coming to Des Moines February 1-3rd, and are open to all students in middle through high school. Quakes gather at large hotels in cities all over the U.S. for worship songs, speakers, breakout sessions for students, and lots of fun activities along the way. The theme for this years Quakes is Diverge -“
To live a life of Christ, we need to diverge from the ordinary roads of this world to follow the extraordinary path He created for us.”

This year’s Des Moines Quake takes place at the Holiday inn on Merle Hay, which is super close to the church! The event runs from Friday the 1st at 8pm till Sunday at 11am. Because most churches travel to Quakes, they stay overnight at the hotel hosting the quake. However, with the location being within 5 minute of WHLC, our group can carpool to the event each day and return each evening, meaning we will have no hotel cost and will not need to stay overnight. We will be wrapped up and back home by noon on the 3rd (Which is Super Bowl Sunday). The cost per student is $145.00 for the weekend, which includes everything over the weekend except for meals.

This will be an awesome chance for our students to join with other youth groups in worship, song, and faith building activities. Quakes have strong Lutheran ties, and the musical leader for our DSM quake is AGAPE, who many students saw live on stage at the National Youth Gathering. Quakes centers around youth encountering the Gospel, and is always an exciting event for students. We hope you will consider having your child come-this will be an opportunity they do not want to miss.

If you have any questions about Quake, please contact Zach, who will be our group leader for this Quake. Further information can be found on the Quake Website: http://quakeevent.com.
