Meet Pastor Olkiewicz

Pastor Christopher and Beth Olkiewicz are both originally from South Dakota -- Beth from Freeman and Chris from Sioux Falls. They met at Augustana College (SD), married and moved to Des Moines in 1988. Chris worked as a Product Development Analyst for The Principal Financial Group and Beth as a language arts teacher at McCombs Middle School until Chris entered seminary in 1991.

Upon graduating from Luther Seminary in 1995, Chris received a call to serve as associate pastor at St. John's Lutheran Church in Des Moines. Beth returned to teaching, first at Sacred Heart School in West Des Moines and then back to McCombs. In 2001, Chris received the call to serve as Pastor of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Ames. Beth continued teaching in Des Moines and is currently at Brody Middle School.

The Olkewiczes are the proud parents of Bennett, who is six and a kindergartner at Fellows Elementary School in Ames. Bennett is a lifelong train enthusiast and book lover.

Pastor Chris is interested in all sorts of things, especially books, music, science and all things related to bicycles, including bike racing. When he's not at work, he is probably on his bike or working on it in his shop.
