Companion Congregation in Tanzania
The Southeastern Iowa Synod is a companion synod to the Pare Diocese in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT). The purpose of the Companion Synod Program is to build relationships with people of the Pare Diocese through which we will be mutually strengthened for life and mission in the body of Christ.

Companionship Strategies
The purpose of the Companion Program is:
To encourage and support congregations of the Southeastern Iowa Synod to develop relationships with individuals, congregations, and institutions in the Pare Diocese.
To continue to support the work of Mwangaza, an ELCT/ELCA educational partnership offering training for Tanzanian teachers and life skill development training throughout the country.
To support projects with our companions and other international partners so that additional capacity is built to address human needs and extend existing assets.
To provide an annual opportunity for travel to the Pare Diocese to develop companion relationships (usually January).
