Lenten Season & Environmental Stewardship: Introducing the “Carbon Fast”
Can’t give up chocolate, soda, coffee or junk foods for Lent? Let us introduce the “Carbon Fast” as a new and environmentally healthy alternative.
Going green is a hot topic right now. Of course, as Christians, being good environmental stewards by caring for God’s creation has always been a priority. What many folks don’t realize is that reducing your environmental impact will also prove beneficial to your wallet, another top priority these days.
WHLC’s Care for Creation Committee is unveiling the “Carbon Fast” to help the congregation bring more green into their lives. Commit to reduce your carbon footprint by simply downloading and filling out the ‘Earthkeeper Pledge Form.’
All names will be entered into a drawing to win fabulous earth-friendly prizes like canvas bags, water-conserving faucet/shower head aerators, energy-efficient light bulbs and more! The Care for Creation Committee will have a table set up at the church Wednesday February 25 (Ash Wednesday), Saturday February 28 and Sunday March 1. Winners will be announced at the March 8th services.

Green Tip of the Week: Green Tip: Change the margins on your printer: The default margins on documents you print are 1.25 inches on all sides. Simply changing the margins to 0.75 inches will reduce the amount of paper you use by almost 5%. It might not seem like a lot, but if everyone in the U.S. made the change, it would save 6,156,000 trees every year!
