Adult Ministries

There are many opportunities for adults to engage in fellowship and discipleship at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church. 

AKALOO is taken from the Greek word “Akaluethen” – which means to follow. We are each called to follow Christ in many different ways, through study, prayer, learning, inviting, serving, giving, and encouraging one another. AKALOO Wednesday is an opportunity for people to connect with others and grow in their faith (Sept. - May). Sunday Morning Adult Forum meets on Sunday mornings in Fellowship Hall from 9:30-10:30 am (Sept. - May).  Join us for a cup of coffee and enlightening topics and presenters.  Check the calendar to see upcoming Adult Forum topics.

Fellowship Events are scheduled throughout the year to help those at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church to gather together, support one another and engage in fun activities. Learn more about Windsor Heights Lutheran Fellowship events.

The Elderberries is a lively group of retired members and friends of Windsor Heights Lutheran Church. Boasting more than 40 members, the group meets on the first Thursday of every month (except in July) for a potluck meal, devotions, and a program. Admission to each event is $2.00 or donation of a casserole, salad, or dessert. If you've never attended but would like to do so, please contact Dana Leahy at 515-276-3138 or call the church office at 515-277-6277 to make a reservation.

Joyful Travelers usually have two trips a year - spring and fall. Nearly ten years ago Joyful Travelers made their maiden voyage to Kalona. In the ensuing years the group has enjoyed 23 trips, including trips to Kansas City, Minneapolis and an overnight trip to Dubuque and Dyersville. Men's Morning Bible Study meets at 6:45 am on Monday mornings to discuss Scripture and issues of faith and life.

Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA) at Windsor Heights Lutheran encompasses small groups and gatherings through a variety of intergenerational activities centered around the interests of those involved.
